Are you a foreign student interested in pursuing your graduate education in the United Kingdom? Then this post is for you! This post highlights 7 full tution scholarship opportunities available for the 2021/2022 academic year.


1. GDAI - PhD Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: University of London.

The Centre of African Studies offers 1 PhD scholarship to African nationals as part of the Governance for Development in Africa Initiative funded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

Applications are invited for PhD studentships focused on the area of state capacities, governance and bureaucracy for development. This may include projects designed to understand public sector governance capabilities, political settlements, state business relations, the governance of state owned enterprises, the governance of development policy design and implementation, and so on.

*In order to be considered for funding, applicants must first secure an UNCONDITIONAL OFFER for the PhD by applying directly to the SOAS Doctoral School.

Deadline: 31st March, 2021.


2. The Hasmukh Patel Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: University of Oxford.

The Hasmukh Patel Scholarship is awarded to one African applying for the September 2021 intake. This scholarship will cover the course fees of £94,800. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who demonstrates exceptional academic merit and/or potential and selection will also be based upon evidence of a contribution to Africa’s development and evidence of an intention to continue to contribute to Africa’s development.

*The candidate should intend to return to their home country upon completion of their studies.

Deadline: 5th April, 2021.



3. Hatfield Lioness Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: Durham University.

The aim of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship is to enable a female student from a developing country where access to tertiary education is limited to benefit from undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Durham. Hatfield College aims to award the Lioness Scholarship to an individual who has the academic and personal qualities to enable them to complete and benefit from a postgraduate course, and who will also act as a positive ambassador for their home country in Durham, and put their enhanced knowledge and skills gained from the master’s programme and experience in Durham to good use for the benefit of their society when they return home.

Deadline: 31st March, 2021.


4. President's PhD Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: Imperial College London.

If you are a high performing undergraduate or Master's student and have a strong desire to undertake a PhD programme at a world-class research institution, you could be selected to receive full tuition fees and a generous stipend for a PhD place at Imperial College London. The President’s PhD Scholarships aims to provide up to 50 research students with great potential the opportunity to work within their chosen research field with the support of an excellent supervisor.

Deadline: 19th March, 2021.


5. Edinburgh Doctoral College and Business School Scholarships

Affiliated Institution: University of Edinburgh

A number of fully funded scholarships are available for any area of study within the doctoral programme. This scholarship, a collaboration between the University's Doctoral College and the Business School, will include a package of training and development which will help the awardee develop the necessary skills required to meet their career choices and offer them a breadth of development opportunities in areas such as teaching, public engagement, entrepreneurship, data science, and research.

Deadline: 24th February, 2021.


6. IOE Centenary Master's Scholarships

Affiliated Institution: University College London

The scholarships cover full tuition fees and accommodation for one academic year. These scholarships do not cover subsistence in London, travel or any other expenses. The scholarships are tenable for one academic year, subject to satisfactory progress.

Deadline: 3rd May, 2021.


7. Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences Dean's Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: University of the West of England - UWE Bristol

This scholarship is available to an outstanding applicant who can show evidence of a correlation between studying their selected MSc programme and improving the environmental, health, wellbeing or security of their home country. Following graduation, recipients will be expected to be an active member of the UWE Bristol Alumni Network by helping the University to promote its programmes to prospective students.

Deadline: 30th June, 2021.
