Fulbright Foreign Student Program 2027 -2028

In Ghana, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program (Fulbright FSP) supports the academic and professional development of staff, junior faculty, and administrators employed in tertiary, research, or government institutions. This includes, but is not limited to junior faculty, research assistants, assistant lecturers, technicians supporting classroom instruction, administrators, researchers, and lecturers. Fulbright FSP grants up to two years of funding toward a master’s or doctoral degree in the United States.



Eligibility Criteria


  • Ghanaian citizen currently residing in Ghana (Please note: Ghanaian nationals with dual U.S. citizenship are not eligible for the program).

  • Employed at a tertiary, research, or governmental institution.

  • Students pursuing academic degrees or research in AI, conflict negotiation, cyber security, disease prevention, health digitization, STEM, supply chain management, or trade.

  • High prospect of receiving study leave from applicant’s employer.

  • Have one of the following academic degrees:

    • When applying for a master’s degree: a 4-year Bachelor’s degree.

    • When applying for a Doctorate degree: a Master’s degree.

    • Applicants must have a GPA score of 3.5 at the time of application

  • Proficient in English


Please note: You will be required to take the TOEFL and GRE exams if selected (TOEFL scores of 90 and above are competitive for individuals applying for graduate school in the U.S.).

Important! National Service Personnel are not eligible.

Applicants should log onto the website, enter an e-mail address, and create a password. Please remember this password because it will be used throughout the application process.  Applicants are also advised to read the instructions preceding the application.  Check carefully for grammar and spelling mistakes. Do not plagiarize.  Do not use capital letters (or “ALL CAPS”).


NOTE: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.  If an embassy representative does not contact you by July 6, 2026, you may revise your application and apply next year.
