10 Law Schools in the USA with Full Tuition Scholarship Opportunities Pt.2

Updated: Feb 11

Over a month ago, we posted the first half of schools with scholarship opportunities in the USA for prospective law students here and up next is the last half of schools with such opportunities. If you are considering practicing law in the USA, and have a good undergraduate GPA and LSAT score, you will want to take advantage of the opportunity presented from these institutions and submit an application. This post highlights the second half of the Juris Doctorate (JD) 3-years program in the United States which have full tuition scholarship opportunities for both local and foreign students.

1. Belmont University

Location: Nashville, Tennesse.

Scholarship: The Belmont Law Dean’s Scholars Program is a merit-based, full tuition remission scholarship program for a select number of exceptionally qualified applicants who have designated Belmont Law as their top choice legal education program. Early Decision applicants with an LSAT profile and cumulative undergraduate GPA exceeding the College of Law's top quartile academic credentials are encouraged to apply. A Dean’s Scholar is the highest honor given to members of the incoming class. Dean’s Scholars receive the full tuition remission award for all three years of enrollment, provided they remain in good standing, as well as research assistant positions with faculty members. Determining factors of merit include LSAT score(s), cumulative undergraduate GPA, course of study or major, and undergraduate alma mater.

Deadline: TBD

2. Boston University

Location: Boston, Massachusetts.

Scholarship: The Boston University School of Law Public Interest Scholarship program provides a full tuition scholarship for all three years to a number of students who have demonstrated their desire to pursue a career in public interest law. The definition of public interest law is broad and includes both domestic and international work; direct service, impact litigation, and policy work; and government and non-profit work. Recent public interest scholars have come to BU Law with career goals in international human rights, immigration law, public health, judicial clerkships, public defense, prosecution, government at all levels, housing policy, environmental policy, and criminal justice reform. Applicants who wish to be considered for the Public Interest Scholarship must submit an additional essay with their applications for admission. In addition to the Public Interest Scholarship, recipients are granted a $5,000 stipend for their 1L and 2L summers to pursue public interest internships, as well as career guidance and faculty mentoring.

Deadline: January 15.

3. Pepperdine University

Location: Malibu, California.

Scholarship: All first-year applicants for admission to the full-time JD program at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law are eligible to apply for the Faculty Scholars Award. This award is granted to applicants who demonstrate academic excellence and personal achievement, without regard to financial need. It is recommended that applicants have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.65 and an LSAT score in the 87th percentile. Full tuition plus a $7,000 dollar stipend is awarded for the first year of law school. Each year thereafter, scholarship renewal is contingent upon maintaining a 2.8 grade point average at the close of each academic year. If you are selected as a Faculty Scholars finalist, you must participate in the Faculty Scholars visit on the Pepperdine Caruso Law campus in February for final consideration.

4. University of Arizona

Location: Tucson, Arizona.

Scholarship: University of Arizona Law is the only law school with a full-tuition scholarship program dedicated to students with science and technology backgrounds. This opportunity is reserved for high-performing students with a STEM undergraduate degree or significant work experience in a STEM position. 5. University of Pittsburgh

This Fellowship is the first partnership of its kind in Pennsylvania between a law firm and a law school and one of the very few such partnerships in the entire country.

Deadline: TBD

These full tuition scholarship opportunities are exclusive to those students interested in pursuing the Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Admission into a JD program requires a Bachelor's degree, and a successful completion of the JD degree paves the way for one to take the bar exam and practice as a lawyer in the United States of America. In the past, it has been known that exceptionally brilliant international students pursuing the JD, most of who received substantial funding for their education, have had the opportunity of being sponsored by a US company in order to continue their legal presence in the United States after school. However, there is no guarantee, especially in these times that you will be sponsored to work in the US as an international student even in the event you pass your bar exam. As such, it is important to have somewhat of a solid plan or best alternative and also consider what may lie ahead if you are looking to pursue the JD program.
